Book Title and Author(s): A Light in the Attic by Shel Silverstein

Introduce the book (Genre and age range): This book is for children ages 3-5

Summary: This book was published in 1981, and is a collection of short poems. Each poem has an illustration also created by Shel Silverstein. The poems can range from aiming at a child's peeves, spooks or silliness. There are also some twists on familiar rhymes and tales.

Favorite Part: My favorite part is the opening poem A Light in the Attic. When I read the poem, I feel like I'm the person looking into the attic, and someone is watching me. It is very mysterious and makes the reader want to read on.

Recommendation: I would recommend this book to not only children, but adults. I feel that adults can also get a good spook or laugh out of the poems. The poems are creative, well written, and highly entertaining to read. There's a good variety of emotion throughout the poems.
